Who we are?
Just getting off the ground, we are a civic organization for advocacy and grass-root community development working towards strengthening, barrier free environment and equal, full access to quality education for children and adolescents with disability. Technologically savvy infrastructure in an educational system and building up as many well-designed schools in proportion to the number of school-age kids is necessary to provide decent education for kids. However, to our view, in order for the mantra of ‘education for all’ to fully be realized one needs most of all the essential sentimental atmosphere of such ingredients as respect, empathy, care and attention in each school setting. Students treated with dignity and attention rather than indifference or repression can obviously make much progress.
What we do?
With a sense of collegiality and based on their special needs, we advocate for full integration and independence to bring about measurable result in quality education which so far is the unfulfilled right of children with disabilities. In order to fulfill these goals our nonprofit does the following:
Under Full Integration:
Our nonprofit examines and works towards eliminating education access barriers including stereotypes and discrimination also known as social, environmental barriers (such as, uneven roads, walkways and paths, lay of the land, disability non-friendly school latrine/toilet, stairs to classrooms and libraries etc.) through improved construction of facilities. We make sure that not only more number of children with disabilities get access to school but get quality education by fostering continuous relevant training and raising awareness of school administration and community members.
Under Independence:
We create a sense of self-worth, dignity and autonomy in the psyche of each child with disability in his/her student and social life by providing necessary student resources and teaching aids, i.e., both low and high technological tools of independence including materials for braille, white canes, wheelchairs, crutches and walkers, hearing-aids magnifiers for low vision and assistive devices and softwares such as screen-readers.
